50 Youth Receive Scholarships in 2024 Education Drive
In a landmark ceremony held in Bamenda, CAbyYouths awarded scholarships to 50 outstanding young Cameroonians — a milestone that represents the largest single cohort in the organisation's scholarship history.
The recipients, selected from over 300 applicants across eight regions, will receive full or partial tuition coverage, learning materials, and access to the CABY Mentorship Network for the 2024–2025 academic year.
Selection Process
This year's selection process was the most rigorous to date. Applicants were assessed on academic merit, financial need, community involvement, and a personal essay outlining their goals and how they intend to give back to their communities after completing their education.
A selection panel comprising educators, former scholarship recipients, and community leaders reviewed every application. Of the 50 awardees, 28 are young women — reflecting CABY's deliberate commitment to closing the gender gap in access to quality education.
Voices from the Recipients
"I had almost given up on continuing my education after my father lost his job," shared one recipient, a Form Five student from Bamenda. "This scholarship is not just money — it is a message that someone believes in me. I will not let that go to waste."
Another recipient, pursuing a technical degree in electrical engineering, said: "I want to come back and build solar energy solutions for villages that have no electricity. CABY is helping me get there."
