About CABY
A dedicated non-profit organization committed to uplifting the youth of Cameroon and creating lasting, positive change in communities across the nation.
The Cameroonian Association for the Betterment of Youths (CABY) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded with a clear and unwavering mission: to empower the youth of Cameroon through education, health promotion, skills development, and community engagement. We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive — regardless of their background, region, or circumstance.
Since our establishment, CABY has been at the forefront of youth development initiatives across the South West Region and beyond. Our programs are designed not only to address immediate challenges facing young people today, but also to build the long-term resilience and capacity that will sustain communities for generations to come. We work in close partnership with local leaders, government agencies, international organizations, and — most importantly — the youth themselves.
From drug abuse prevention campaigns to vocational training workshops, from peer education programs to community clean-up drives, CABY’s work spans a wide spectrum of interventions that are rooted in evidence, driven by compassion, and measured by impact.
Since our inception, CABY has worked tirelessly to create measurable and lasting impact in the lives of Cameroonian youth. Every program we run, every event we organize, and every partnership we forge is guided by our commitment to transformative change — change that uplifts individuals, strengthens families, and rebuilds communities from the ground up.
CABY’s mission is to promote the holistic well-being of Cameroonian youth through integrated programs that address education, health, economic opportunity, and civic engagement.
We provide access to quality education, vocational training, and skills development opportunities that equip young people for sustainable livelihoods and active citizenship in the 21st century.
Through awareness campaigns, peer education, and direct intervention programs, we promote physical and mental health among youth — with a special focus on drug abuse prevention and sexual health.
We mobilize young people as agents of positive change, encouraging volunteerism, community service, and civic participation as pathways to personal growth and social transformation.
CABY advocates for policies and systems that protect the rights and advance the interests of young Cameroonians, engaging with government bodies, civil society, and international partners to amplify youth voices.
CABY envisions a Cameroon where every young person — regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, or socio-economic background — has access to the resources, opportunities, and support systems they need to realize their full potential. We see a future where Cameroonian youth are educated, healthy, empowered, and engaged as leaders in their communities and their nation.
Achieving this vision requires sustained investment in young people, systemic changes to the structures that currently limit their opportunities, and a collective commitment from all stakeholders — government, civil society, the private sector, and communities — to place youth welfare at the center of national development priorities.
Drug Abuse Prevention is one of our core pillars. We work to reduce substance use among young Cameroonians through education, early intervention, peer support networks, and advocacy for evidence-based national drug policies that protect vulnerable youth populations.
Our values are the foundation upon which every program, partnership, and decision is built.
We uphold the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct in all our operations and relationships. We earn the trust of our partners, beneficiaries, and communities through consistent honesty and principled action.
We are committed to reaching the most marginalized and vulnerable youth, creating programs and spaces that are welcoming and accessible to all — regardless of background, ability, gender, or circumstance. No young person is left behind.
We embrace creative, evidence-based approaches to addressing youth challenges, continuously learning from our programs and adapting our methods to maximize impact in a rapidly changing world.
We believe that lasting change is only possible through collaboration. We actively seek and nurture partnerships with local communities, government agencies, international organizations, and the private sector.
CABY’s approach is holistic, participatory, and evidence-driven. We begin with a deep understanding of the communities we serve, engaging young people themselves as co-designers of solutions.
Every initiative begins with rigorous community needs assessments and evidence reviews to ensure our programs are grounded in the real challenges and aspirations of young Cameroonians.
We place youth at the center of program design and delivery, ensuring that our interventions reflect their lived experiences and are owned by the communities they serve.
We rigorously monitor and evaluate all programs, using data to refine our approaches, demonstrate impact to stakeholders, and scale what works to reach more youth across Cameroon.
Our dedicated team brings together expertise in youth development, public health, education, and community organizing.
